Web minimalism now!
Let’s face it: The traditional ”homepage” is dead. No one bothers to use a website if we perceive no immediate and apparent value, or need being met. No one wants to waste their time on superfluous banter about “us”, “our history” or how fantastic “we” are. As people using the web every day, we want clear, relevant and effective service – not information overloaded portals with aimless information and mountains of choices. MTO-Lab’s web mantra is therefore: user-centred and goal-directed minimalism.
For MTO-Lab minimalism means removing everything that’s not relevant, frequently used or functional for whom it is intended. Our method, interaction design, is about designing web concepts that speak directly to the user, in his or her terms, and on his or her level. MTO-Lab designs natural, motivated and logical screen flows moving the user seamlessly toward a clearly defined goal. The aspiration is simply to create a good experience and a valuable service.
Interaction design is architectural blueprints of websites. No decorative graphics, no images. Functions are best described this way, with boxes and arrows. From planning every screen component and user action with wireframe models, to structuring the macrostructure of the site with sitemaps, interaction design defines the whole.
Design is as much about functions as aesthetics. This is particularly true when it comes to the web. If you get no pleasure using it, a pretty façade will never redeem the lack of a good experience.
